There are certificates and accreditations for almost everything. You want to do business with someone who is “certified / accredited” in their field of expertise. Working with a professional who is an expert in global commerce is no different. Becoming a Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP) informs the business community you are an expert in global commerce.

What is CGBP?

Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP) is an accreditation that is managed through the North American Small Business International Trade Educators (NASBITE). NASBITE was established over 30 years ago as a professional organization to help assist with the education of global business. Its mission statement reads, “To advance global business practice, education, and training.”

How do I become CGBP certified?

To become CGBP certified, you need to successfully pass the certification exam. The exam consists of 165 multiple choice questions, that will test you on four main areas:

  • Global Business Management
  • Global Marketing
  • Supply Chain
  • Trade Finance

NASBITE offers training courses or boot camps nationwide. You can find a list of CGBP accredited training programs here.

What is the value of working with a CGBP?

Your Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP) will be able to help you navigate through the various aspects of doing business on a global scale. Several examples of support are determining where to find international buyers, identify trade finance / export insurance solutions via EXIM, or determine which incoterms to use for your exports. Having a resource like a certified global business professional at your fingertips, allows you to conduct business on a global scale with the same amount of effort as doing business domestically. They help take the mystery out of exporting and encourage you to extend your sales to the remaining 95 percent of the world population.
